At least 21 of Russia's 38 major refineries - in which petroleum is processed into practical energy sources like automotive fuels - have been targeted this year, significantly more than as during the whole of 2024.

Persistent Warfare

Meanwhile, Russian attacks on Ukraine are persisting. Ukrainian aerial defenses stated during midweek its defences shot down or neutralized 154 unmanned aircraft, but 22 struck targets in 11 locations.

Debris from intercepted drones caused fires and destruction of community structures.

At least five people were dead in the past days when Russia sent over multiple ballistic weapons and around 500 drones into multiple Ukrainian territories.

Power Systems Facing Danger

The country's president says Russia is once more attacking Ukraine's energy infrastructure ahead of winter and has declared additional financial support to restore affected installations and establish a stockpile of materials to reinstate electricity.

"Despite all the challenges, we must support the areas presently experiencing the most difficult period," he said.
